If you can answer the following questions, we'll recommend the best approach:

1) Are the stains rust stains from the tacks?
2) What color are the stains (a darkish brown/black?)
3) Are the stains just around the perimeter of the room where the carpet tacks were (i.e., near the walls?)
4) What color and shade is the oak floor?
5) Are you planning to refinish the floor?
6) If you refinish the floor, are you planning to change its color? If so, what color and shade?
7) Can you tell if the staining is on the surface finish only, or has it penetrated the wood fibers?

Let us know and we'll do our best to help out!
