I am buying a new split level home with half of the unfinished basement below ground. I was looking at the house today and I noticed that the neighbor's house which is almost identical to mine and is on the same level of ground had a sump pump in it and mine does not. Is there a way to test the basement to see if there will be water problems before I start to finish it off? I'm not to sure why the builder would make two houses side by side and only one with a sump. Thanks.
