Floating Walls In Colorado

We are required to have "floating walls" in basements. I understand how to build the walls and have looked at the source/info on Floating Walls at asktooltalk.com as you advised another person. My question is--the walls are to be suspended from the floor joists (2 x 10's). Can a 2x10 hold the weight of these "hanging walls" or do we have to install an additional 2 x 10 next to the existing one to help carry the weight of the wall? I'm concerned about the weight of the walls that run parallel to the floor joist. We will use the metal straps as suggested. Thanks-From A Structurally Challenged Woman
