Re: exterior doors - jamb extensions

Whereas window extension jambs are generally applied to the interior side of the window frame, door extension jambs are generally applied to the exterior of the door in order to prevent interference with the hinges. If the hinges are on the outside of the door, such as is sometimes the case for outswing French doors, then the jamb extensions should be put on the inside of the door. Of course, the best bet is to order your door with the proper dimensions so everything is designed to fit properly. Builders Websource.
