I got the same problem. House built in 1876 and a couple of beams are sagging, bringing down a corner of the dinning room. As I want to do this myself too, could I shore up the beam with temporary jacks, turning them a bit a week until I get level again? Then I believe new posts would come in where the sagging was evident. I do not want to sister the beams. Is this possible to do? Like where can I fing some of those scew type house jacks?
