My husband is wanting to use the rubberized decking (span-tex?) on our almost 1000 square foot deck that is 8 feet off the ground. We live in a very wet region and he is trying to prevent his wood supports/beams etc. from rotting. I am a bit leary about using this product since it says it is very difficult to use and if not applied correctly will have a poor appearance. My husband & his Dad has used this product years ago on a balcony/roof that was a lot smaller than our deck. They both swear it is not that big of deal to do and it just takes time and patience. My question, is this something that a home owner should hire done or is it practical to do on our own? Also, the decking materials that are out now(E-ON; Trex), how would you protect the beams etc. below from the wet regions damage? I wanted to use one of these products but both my husband and his Dad have said that it is not as good as this rubberized decking material. I am trying to be reasonable so I am researching and wanting the experts opinion before investing in a product that may not be the proper product to use. Thanks for your time. I do appreciate it a lot. Debbie
