covering Unico a/c ducts in closets

I have just had a Unico a/c system installed. Some small use of closets was required and I need to cover the ducts that are visible in my closets. Should I basically follow the rules for framing a closet - ie a wodden frame around the ducts and then sheetrock on top - or could I use bead board or some lighter material than sheet rock. Should I remove the coat hanger cross pole or cover up that part that wil no longer be used because it abuts the ducting (if I remove it I would have to re-attach it on presumably the sheetrock wall I will have installed to cover the ducting, which seems like a poor option)? Any ideas most welcome. Thanks.
