Size of Support beam necessary for deck

I'm replacing a deck that runs above my 2 car garage. The deck is currently supported by 2 cantilevers. One cantilever is structurally independent and the otheris an extention of the main support beam for the house (the garage is in the basement). We are planning to eliminating the cantilevers (they are rotted and our deck guy says replacement doesn't meet code)and span the length of the deck with a steel I-beam for support. The span between the two concrete piers is 31 feet. The deck will be 6 feet wide. The deck will be constructed using pressure treated lumber, but the decking itself will be Trex (fiberglass decking). My question is, how large of a steel I-beam do I need. Because this deck is above my garage I have an issue with clearance, so I want to use the smallest beam that can carry the load. FYI, this deck really just acts as a walkway from the front yard to a door that is above the garage and hold nothing heavier than a BBQ and the New York snow load.
