RC-1 resilient sound isolation channels are a great way to help isolate impact noise from above. Sound channels are installed perendicular (90-degree angle) to the direction of the ceiling joists, typically at 16" centers. Simple screw the flange of the sound channel into each ceiling joist (one screw is sufficient). Then, screw the drywall into the lower free flange of the channel. No glue is required. Wiping the sound channel is not necessary, however it won't hurt. Install drywall as you normally would, except screw into the channels, not the joists. Additional installation information is available from the manufacturer. Builders Websource.
