Cinder block wall cracking

Our older home is made of concrete blocks, including interior walls. Large cracks are appearing and in some places go all the way through to the outside (you can see daylight) I am worried the walls will come down on my head! Can we do repairs ourself, if so is there a how to book-or should we just tear down the house and rebuild? Thanks for any advice. J.C.
