Am building a barn 60x36 with two rows of post and beams 12 ft. apart running down the middle. The beams, sitting on 6x6's were built out of 3 2x10's southern pine with 1/2 inch plywood sandwiched in between and nailed together @ 3 rows 12"o.c.staggerd and a 2x6 plate nailed to the top and bottom creating a beam 12 and 1/4 inches wide. The loft trusses setting on these two beams and two outer walls(4 points)are 370lbs.apiece and are spaced 16"apart.The trusses are rated for a live load of 100psf.Could you please advise as to how far these beams will span.I can add posts if needed or is it possible to bolt added members to to these beams?Should i have used 2x12's?Is there a very big difference? The posts are currently spaced 12ft.apart. thanks very much for your help.
