I have a Heatilator fireplace which I am going to replace with another insert. The hearth and chimney are inside the house and I want to move the chimney to the outside and recover the 4ft. I've looked in books/internet, etc. but cannot find any referance or discritption of chimney framing. I've looked at some building sites and noted there framing but I don't know why they do it that way - some are ballon framed others not. What is the proper way to frame a chimney for an insert? How do you "hang" the flue? Thanks
