Retaining Wall

We just backfilled around our house. We currently have OSB boards holding dirt back on each side of the house. Does anyone have a suggestion for a cheap way to build a retaining wall for the dirt. We have looked at blocks designed for that purpose (way to expensive) and railroad ties. The railroad ties seem to be the best way, but you have to worry about termites. Lowes does having an 8 foot piece of recycled items that eliminates the termite problem but costs more. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott Cline
