During storm the windward side of house had the gable come away from the chiminey. 2x4 framing board did not break or crack but came away from a frame of the roof. This caused The fiber board in the attic to buckled but did not crack. The flashing on the chiminey also came away from the roof. The house is a vinal type. Outside the vinal does not show any damage or any evidence that the gable broke away from chiminey. Can I push the 2x4 back into place reinforcing it with joint bracket put roofing tar on the chiminey flashing to prevent water from coming down into the attic. Would this be a addequate repair. If not how can I do the repair.
