There are no existing heating ducts in my basment. I would like to add 2 ducts into my family room by attaching them to the main duct running down the basement hallway. The room is apprx. 425 sqft. The only cold air returns are upstairs and I want to know how to calculate how large of a cold air return I should create downstairs. Each duct run would be about 17 ft with 6" insulated lines. I may want to run additional ducts to the bedroom across the hall from this room and that room is 200 sq ft.
