I am planning to build an addition to the kitchen which is 12' wide and extends out from the back house wall 12'. The free span necessary in the outside house wall to open it up to the existing kitchen is therefore 12'. There is a floor above containing a bathroom and closet. Roof loading is light. 35' span roof trusses create the 6 pitch roof. Can I span the new 12' opening in the back wall with two 11 7/8 micro lam beams sandwitched together?
