Is the garage ceiling unfinished or is there drywall or will you be adding drywall? (drywall already) I assume by "14" across" you mean 16" centers. (yes) What do you mean by "firm the load" with plywoood? The 8 foot strips of plywood won't do any good to reenforce the joists because the plywood is not continuous. (I was told that this would help. Oh well...) Do the 2x8's span the garage or is there a beam down the middle of the garage ceiling now? (No beam or support at all) Do you have a gable roof and if so will you have adequate head room in the bedroom? (Peak is 9 ft, ceiling will be at 80") What about windows? Will you have to add dormers? (No, one double casement at front of house for light) thanks for your help. Wayne
