My friend has just purchased an older home and is gutting the downstairs. He wants to do open concept, therefore ripping out all inside walls and installing a laminate beam. Upstairs there is 2 bedrooms approx 12X12 and I bathroom. There will be an 18 foot span for this beam. Does anyone know what size of beam he has to use. We have looked on the internet and cant really find much. Any help would be appreciated.
