Sump Pump Runs Constantly!

We bought a home that is located in a high water table area. Not sure why but the previous owner built a 4.5" crawlspace and when the water table is high our pumps run non-stop! We put in drainage tiles inside so we don't even have puddles but I am tired of hearing sump pumps ALL the time. Water is only coming up from the ground. We trenched the gutters into a ditch so the water is not coming in that way. ANY suggestions would be appreciated on what to do, if there is anything to do!
