ok, here is the deal... I own a 110 year old farm house in Nebraska. There was a 2 story square home that has a brick foundation on a dirt crawl space. There is a 2 story addition, and it has a basement uner it, but the basement is in trouble...bowing wall etc...it was not well done from the begining I think. Lastly there is a large 1 story kitchen addition, and it is also on a brick foundation on a dirt crawlspace. I like my home. I would like to save it. My options are to either lift the house and have a full basement/new foundation added...OR...put a new basement and foundation etc directly behind this house and have this one moved over on top of it. I have the room to do that, and think that it would be easier, and more cost effective....is that true? Who do I talk to about that? A structural engineer? A house moving company? someone else? Also wants the foundation is done, I need to move a couple of walls...who do I ask to find out if they are load bearing, or if I need to worry about that etc? Thank You.
